Roseau, Dominica: President of Guyana Bharrat Jagdeo has expressed dissatisfaction in what he referred to as the United State’s “lecture” to CARICOM Governments about their lack of proper drug and money laundering prevention methods, stating that the US has “the largest failure in law enforcement”.

In an online article published on Caribbean Daily News last week, a 2009 Department of State’s International Narcotics Control Strategy Report (INCSR), called on CARICOM governments to beef up their legislation regarding the illegal drugs trade.

According to the article, the report stated  that the Eastern Caribbean, which includes the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and Barbados, was called on to strengthen law enforcement authorities in “efforts to counter drug trafficking and related crimes such as money laundering, arms trafficking and corruption”.
