Grenada PM welcomes victory of his Kittitian counterpart

ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC- Prime Minister Tillman Thomas on Wednesday said he was looking forward to working with re-elected St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas in helping the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) emerge from the global economic crisis.
In a congratulatory message following Dr Douglas’s fourth consecutive victory at the polls on Monday, Thomas said he was also looking “forward to continuing our work to help the people of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States to realise their dreams of unity among our countries.
“I hope we can work together to help the sub-region emerge from the effects of the global economic crisis that has affected all our economies,” he added.
The ruling St. Kitts-Nevis labour Party (SKNLP) won six of the eight seats that were at stake in St. Kitts during the election with the main opposition People’s Action Movement, which has already said it would be going to the court to challenge the results, winning two seats.
The Concerned Citizens Movement (two) and the Nevis Reformation (one) split the three seats on Nevis.
Both Grenada and St. Kitts and Nevis are members of the OECS that also include Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Montserrat, Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands.
