Prime Minister Thomas meets Haitian Ambassador in New York

Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas, accompanied by Grenada’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Her Excellency, Dr. Dessima Williams, this morning paid a courtesy call on the Haitian Ambassador in New York, His Excellency Leo Merores.
Mr. Thomas expressed Grenada’s support for the country in the aftermath of the 7.0 earthquake in Port au Prince which left an estimated 150,000 people dead and thousands more homeless.
The Prime Minister signed a register which expressed his sympathy and support for the Haitian people.
“There has been an outpouring of support for Haiti. Grenadians have responded very well to the call to assist in this process. We hope, within the regional context to play a significant role in the reconstruction of Haiti,” the Prime Minister said.
Ambassador Merores expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Thomas for his support in the recovery process in his country and his visit to the Haitian Embassy.
